Holly J. Brown, DAOM, LAc is a Doctor of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, Licensed Acupuncturist, and Herbalist.  She practiced as a primary care practitioner for 10 years in Florida prior to relocating to Maine.  She attended the University of South Florida for her undergraduate degree and graduated in 2003 from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego.  She is board certified with the NCCAOM.  She practices in Florida and Brunswick, Maine. ​

A major focus of Dr. Brown’s work is the ​study ​of the human microbiome, gastrointestinal system, and autoimmune disease.  In her clinical practice, she has found that many issues relate back to the gut, specifically bacterial imbalance, absorption, and the functioning of the organs of excretion.  She is well-versed in the use of stool analysis, providing her the opportunity to interpret the influence of organisms as well as the functional aspects of the digestive system on all manners of human physiology, including immunity, inflammation, neurotransmitter production, absorption of vitamins and minerals, and biliary function.  Through this analysi​s,​ she is better able to diagnose and treat a wide array of issues as well as play a dramatic role in the prevention of disease and the long-term maintenance of health.

Dr. Brown’s unique, complimentary-based education in both Eastern and Western medical perspectives has provided her with ​the ability to thoroughly evaluate all body systems and how they function together as a whole.  She has extensive advanced trainings and clinical experience in pediatrics, gynecology, gastroenterology, ​endocrinology, neurobiology, dermatology​, infertility, hormonal issues, osteoporosis, liver disease, diabetes, and pain management.

​​Dr. Brown enjoys working with athletes of all levels in order to provide wellness, prevention of illness/disease, and treatment of a variety of pain conditions.  She has also worked to receive advanced certification in order to become an HCV Certified Practitioner (Hepatitis C Virus). 

Dr. Brown's Master's and Doctorate degrees' education included extensive training in Chinese Herbology, and she is proficient in several acupuncture techniques, including:

​Dr. Brown's education at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine was based on a complementary medical curriculum, which provides its practitioners the ability to work in an integrated healthcare model.  This unique approach to complementary healthcare combines both Eastern and Western philosophies and uses techniques that promote long-term benefits.

Through treatment, education, and behavior modification, patients in Dr. Brown's practice see immense improvements in symptoms as well as overall health.  It is her goal to help educate her patients as well as the community to become proactive in their healthcare.

Dr. Brown, her husband, and their two daughters ​relocated from Florida ​in 2013​. They are thrilled to be raising their children in Maine.
